BitDefender QuickScan is a convenient online utility that quickly scans your computer for threats such as viruses, rootkits, and keyloggers.
Although the BitDefender QuickScan website claims the service requires no software, that’s not entirely accurate. On first use, you’ll need to install a plugin or extension and restart your browser, depending on which browser you are using.
Once installed and the user agreement is accepted, BitDefender QuickScan will begin scanning your computer. The process is very fast, runs in the background, and does not interfere with any antivirus software you may already have installed. Most importantly, it does not slow down your computer.
After completion, BitDefender QuickScan will inform you whether any infections were detected and allow you to view a report. If problems are found, BitDefender QuickScan does not actually resolve them—it simply alerts you so that you can take appropriate action.
While BitDefender QuickScan is by no means a replacement for antivirus software, it is a useful security tool.
